WALKING HADRIAN’S WAY WITH THE U3A
In June 2015 twelve members of the Brighton and Hove U3A set off to walk Hadrian’s Wall from the Solway Firth to the River Tyne (click all pictures to enlarge).
We walked the 84-mile trail from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend over 8 days.
We stayed in pre-booked bed and breakfast accommodation arranged by Contours Walking Holidays who also organised the collection and transfer of our baggage each day.
Using one-way rail tickets booked well ahead made it relatively cost effective to catch the train from Brighton to Carlisle and home again from Newcastle. Our bus passes took us the rest of the way to Bowness where we spent the first night in excellent B&B accommodation.
