We have done it five times now and are convinced that East to West is Best for us.

The hills are all just as high.  But the geology along the way (and probably the prevailing South Wseterly winds) means the hills are not so steep.

We are based in Brighton and so many of the walks can be done as day walks by us.  So we don’t have much to say about where to stay along the route.   We do use the handy Wetherdown Sustainability Centre Hostel near Droxford and slap bang on the SDW for our last two walks on consecutive days at the Winchester end.
